Who Are Generators?

Generators are the most common Type in Human Design. They are sometimes also called Creators. Everything ever made by human hands was made by Generators. If you look at a Rave Chart, you will see that every Generator has a defined Sacral Center, the center of life force.

Generators are purely energy beings, and they are not built to take the initiative. Their aura, open and enveloping, is very sensitive. Like a sponge, it absorbs everything around it, and it cannot cope with resistance from the environment. That is exactly why Generators need to learn to wait, to learn patience, so that at the right moment they can respond to what Life offers them.

What can a Generator rely on when Life calls?

Every Type has its own Strategy for making decisions and its own built-in inner beacon, a kind of barometer. The Generator's Strategy is to wait to be asked. The Generator's beacon is Response. Response helps them understand what, at this particular moment, they can invest their energy in and what will bring them satisfaction. Satisfaction from action is the most important indicator for a Generator. If a Generator feels satisfied, there is no doubt: there was a Response! And they are moving along their own unique path.

This mysterious Response comes from the energy center that Human Design calls the Sacral. It sits in the belly and reacts to information from outside. When a Generator responds to something true, something correct for them, the energy of the Sacral Center breaks through as Sacral sounds: “uh-huh,” “mm-hmm,” and the like, together with a powerful urge to act and the pleasure of moving in that direction. In that moment, the Generator can feel “uh-huh” or “uh-uh.” Yes or no. There is energy for this or there isn't. It is theirs or it isn't.

Most often, Life calls a Generator into a process through another person who asks them a direct question: “Do you want to go to the movies?” or “Do you want to take a vacation in Europe?” and so on. But! A Generator who is attuned to themselves can just as well respond to good weather outside the window, an ad in the newspaper, or any other information from outside. The main thing to remember is that these can never be questions a Generator asks themselves: “Do I want a vacation in Europe?”, “Do I want to see a movie?” It doesn't work that way. That is why a Generator must wait for what comes from outside.

“What if nobody ever asks me anything?”

Surprisingly, for a Generator who knows how to wait and does not initiate processes, questions from the world start pouring in. Their aura itself attracts those who will want to ask. And it attracts exactly what is needed. When a Generator lets this aura speak without words, they gain that very advantage: meeting the right forces at the right time.

But if a Generator does not wait to be asked, and instead initiates and starts processes, they waste the charge of their nuclear power plant on activities, people, and things that are not really theirs. Not meant for them.

And then the Generator lives their life in frustration. 70% of the Earth's population live their lives in frustration, because 70% of the Earth's population are Generators. Their aura wraps the planet in global frustration, because none of them knows their own nature. And yet, of all the Types, Generators are the ones who find it easiest to wake up: they simply need to stop initiating and learn to wait.

If a Generator can learn patience, if a Generator can accept this limitation, they will succeed at whatever they take on.
